Spring into Travel Season

Spring is in the air! And soon many travelers will also be in the air or on the road, as people shake off the winter blues and embrace the joys of spring. With schools on spring break and plenty of annual events taking place, it’s a busy time of year for our dog boarding and dog daycare programs. Every year we look forward to the excitement of this popular travel season.

Spring is traditionally a great time for travel, as the darker, colder days of winter begin to brighten. In some locations, the warm sun starts to bring landscapes to life with new flowers, green grass and budding leaves. Spring can be a beautiful time for exploring a new city, sitting by the lake or taking off down a hiking trail.

Warm is a relative term, however. Higher elevations and northern climates may still be covered in snow, but sometimes spring travelers encounter the best of both worlds – deep powder on sunny days that don’t require quite as many layers to protect against the cold.

In some locations you’ll find that spring is considered the shoulder season, when prices are lower than in summer or over the winter holidays. Pricing depends on many factors, but you can sometimes find a great deal that adds to the enjoyment. Weather, road conditions, crowds, and availability are just some of the variables to be considered.

Other ideas for spring travel include catching up with extended family at a fun destination, such as a beach house or campground, or visiting theme parks. Be aware of the potential for large crowds, but sometimes all the hustle and bustle adds to the fun and excitement. Annual festivals and big events are popular destinations for many. Whether you’re looking forward to seeing your favorite musician or celebrating a regional cuisine, you can often find the perfect destination with a little research and planning.
